Leonie Gomell receives the PhD scholarship of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. December 2019
Dr. B. Gault, Prof. D. Raabe and Dr. Huan Zhao have received the TMS Light Metals Subject Award - Aluminium Alloys together with colleagues from the Grenoble Institute of Engineering, the Queen's University and Constellium, a producer of aluminium goods. The authors won the award for their paper "Understanding the Role of Cu and Clustering on Strain Hardening and Strain Rate Sensitivity of Al-Mg-Si-Cu Alloys" published in Light Metals 2019. The award recognizes the individual excellence of a paper within a specific subject area published in the preceding year’s volume of Light Metals. November 2019
Po-Yen Tung has gained the Taiwanese Goverment Scholarship to Study Abroad (GSSA). Highest honour for only 18 students pursuing a PhD degree overseas in the field of engineering. Oct 2019

Ceren Yilmaz has won the Best Poster Award at the "7th International Conference on Recrystallization and Grain Growth” (REX&GG) in Ghent, Belgium. Aug 2019
Avinash Hariharan et al. won the 2019 Alloys for Additive Manufacturing Symposium award for Best Poster (First Place) entitled "Mechanisms Contributing to Solidification Cracking during Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Inconel-738LC".
Priyanshu Bajaj et al. won the 2019 Alloys for Additive Manufacturing Symposium award for Best Poster (Second Place) entitled "Intrinsic Heat Treatment in Al-Sc Alloys During Laser Metal Deposition - Driving Factors, Kinetics and Effect of Impurities".
Huan Zhao was selected as awardee for the 2018 Acta Student Award for the paper "Parameter free quantitative analysis of atom probe data by correlation functions: Application to the precipitation in Al-Zn-Mg-Cu", Scripta Materialia 154 (2018) 106-110.
Kevin Schweinar  received the M&M Scholar Award at this years annual meeting Microscopy & Microanalysis 2019 in Portland, Oregon, USA. for his paper "An Integrated Workflow To Investigate Electrocatalytic Surfaces By Correlative X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy, Scanning Photoemission Electron Microscopy and Atom Probe Tomography". August 2019
Prof. D. Raabe was chair of the Gordon Research Conference on Physical Metallurgy held 07/07/2019 - 07/12/2019 at the University of South New Hampshire in Manchester, USA. July 2019
Prof. D. Raabe held the KAIST Lecture Series in Materials Science and Engineering 2019 at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology KAIST, Korea. Lecture titles: "Atomic-Scale Analysis of Chemistry at Lattice Defects" and "Metastable Nanostructured Metallic Alloys". May 2019
Annika Laimmer (Apprentice in the field of Materials Testing), Katja Angenendt und Heidi Bögershausen won the First Poster Award for their poster "Struktur und mechanische Kennwerte einer Martensitnadel aus einem Damaszener-Stahl" at the "mikpräp 2019" conference helt at the Vocational & Technical School Solingen, Germany.  March 2019
Prof. D. Raabe held the distinguished annual prize lecture titled "Compositional Lattice Defect Manipulation for Microstructure Design". The Bauerman Lecture Award 2019, Department of Materials at  Imperial College London, Royal School of Mines. February 2019
