Mechanics meets Energy 2024
The 11th 'Mechanics Meets Energy' symposium was an inspiring event held at the youth hostel of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler from January 22nd to January 26th, 2024. The symposium featured several talks from the SN-NG group, as well as two invited speakers from the MA department. The talks covered diverse topics of material science and included invited presentations by Dominique Chatain (CINaM-UMR, CNRS - Aix Marseille Université), Rebecca Janisch (ICAMS, Ruhr Universität Bochum), Andreja Šestan Zavašnik (Jožef Stefan Institute, Slovenia), Viktoriya Berova (Freudenberg Sealing Technologies-Munich) and Mirunalini Thirugnanasambandam (Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands) who shared their expertise and insights. Along with scientific talks, the event also included a city tour through Ahrweiler, where we learned about the town's history and the community's resilience in the face of adversity. Overall, the symposium was a testament to the power of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
