By plane:
From Düsseldorf airport to the MPIE by cab: The institute is located at the intersection of Sohnstraße and Max-Planck-Straße (travel time approx. 20 minutes, 10 km).
From Düsseldorf airport to the MPIE by public transport: Most convenient is S11, as it leaves from the airport terminal. Alternatively you can go by sky-train to the airport railway station and take the S1. Take the S11/S1 to Düsseldorf main station and then continue with bus 834 (Direction: Oberkassel) to stop Sohnstraße. The MPIE is about 100 m further on the right hand side.
By train:
Take the train to Düsseldorf main station. Opposite the station (Bus stop is on Friedrich Ebert Street) take bus 834 (Direction Oberkassel) to stop Sohnstraße. Buy the ticket from the bus driver. The MPIE is about 100 m further on the right hand side.
By car:
From the east (south, north) to Düsseldorf:
From the A3, take the Düsseldorf/Mettmann exit. Then follow the B7 to Düsseldorf. Leave the B7 at Stauffenplatz and follow Grafenberger Allee towards the center. After 1 km, turn right into Sohnstraße. After about 500 m you will find the MPIE on the right hand side.
From the west (south, north) to Düsseldorf:
At the Kaarst intersection, take the A52 toward Düsseldorf, then continue along the B7 over the Theodor-Heuss bridge. After approx. 4 km on the B7, turn right onto Graf-Recke-Straße. After 300 m turn left into Fritz-Wüst-Straße. After about 300 m you will reach the MPIE on the left side
