Modern developments in the ab initio description of charged systems for semiconductors and electrochemistry

We invite you to participate in our three-day workshop "Modern developments in the ab initio description of charged systems for semiconductors and electrochemistry" which will be held October 23-26, 2011 at Ringberg Castle (Tegernsee, Germany). The aim of the workshop is to bring together distinguished experts in ab-initio/atomistic simulations in solid state defects and electrochemistry.

We have invited speakers, who make exciting research in one or more of the following fields:

  • point defects in semiconductors
  • ab initio simulations for electrochemistry
  • ion solvation in the liquid phase

This workshop aims at exchanging ideas between these seemingly different fields, which yet face very similar methodological challenges to address the properties of charged centers in an extended host medium or even at an interface. We expect stimulating discussions on recent results and scientific concepts. To provide ample time for discussion and exchange the workshop will be restricted to 40 participants. Each invited speaker is asked to give a 60-minute tutorial like presentation (not including the discussion of appr. 15 min). Participants will be able to present their work in a poster session.

The conference site, Ringberg Castle, belongs to the Max-Planck Society and is beautifully located in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps (Germany) overlooking lake Tegernsee.
