11.12. 2024 - Today we had a special visit from Dr. rer. nat. Bastian Reker and Jule Gleba from Technische Hochschule Georg Agricola, we (Patricia Jovičević-Klug, Matic Jovičević-Klug, Prof. Dierk Raabe, Aikaterini (Katerina) Mitzia, Alexandra Vogel and Dennis Klapproth) have welcomed them and we had discussion together during the visit on sustainable remining of mine water and extraction of valuable metals and minerals from waste materials (Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials). This opportunity provided a great exchange between different institutions, departments and groups on the important perspectives of waste management, extractive metallurgy and sustainable processing and materials engineering.
We would like to thank also our colleagues Dr.-Ing. Cristiano Kasdorf Giesbrecht and Manoj Prabhakar J for presenting the labs.
A great presentation was also done by Dr. rer. nat. Bastian Reker on the Remining of Mine Water and Tailings.
In summary, we had a very enlightening presentation and fruitful discussion and we were very happy that we could welcome and host Dr. rer. nat. Bastian Reker and Jule Gleba and give a nice tour of our facilities, groups and work.
Glückauf! Srečno!

13.11.2024 - Zollverein UNESCO Visit 2024
It was a real pleasure to visit the Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site in Essen. We would like to thank Sebastian Scholz and the Zollverein Foundation for welcoming us and introducing us to the rich history of the former mine coking plant complex. It is such a great place with so many possibilities!
We presented our current work on red mud, plasma and chemical analysis, which also showed great potential for collaboration. And also, some of the first samples were collected to do some preliminary analysis on soil and red mud remediation.
We are all looking forward to breaking new ground with our colleagues at the Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site (https://www.linkedin.com/company/stiftung-zollverein/ & https://www.zollverein.de/)

7.10.2024- It was truly a pleasure to be a guest at InnoRenew CoE today. I would like to thank Prof. Anna Sandak and her team for hosting us and showing us around the labs. You are doing very interesting and interdisciplinary research!
Dr Jovičević-Klug has presented my current work on the MSCA CryoFusion project funded by the European Commission and also showed the potential applications of cryogenic treatment in different sectors.
We are looking forward to exploring new horizons with our colleagues from InnoRenew CoE.

5.10.2024 - We would like to thank the team of ESCAMicroscopy beam line (Dr Luca Gregoratti, Dr Matteo Amati, Dr Zygmunt Milosc, Marco Fant) for hosting us for our measurements at Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste. This time we performed electrochemistry experiments in the glove box within my CryoFusion project funded by the European Commission. I would also like to thank my colleague Dr.-Ing. Matic Jovičević-Klug for helping me with my measurements. 😀 👩🔬 👨🔬 🔬
