Dr. Olga Kasian, senior scientist in the group "Electrocatalysis" from the department "Interface Chemistry and Surface Engineering" will participate in the career development programme "Sign Up! Career building for female post docs" next year.

The Max Planck Society (MPG) conducts the programme in cooperation with the European Academy for Women in Politics and Economics Berlin (EAF) to support postdoctoral students and scientists in their professional development and prepare them for future leadership tasks in science. Candidates must be nominated by the Max Planck directors. A selection committee appoints 18 candidates on the basis of their particular academic excellence.

Dr. Olga Kasian studied chemistry at the Dnepropetrovsk National University and received her PhD in 2013 from the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology in Dnepropetrovsk. She joined the Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow in 2015. Her main research area is electrocatalysis for energy conversion and storage.

The MPG is committed to promoting the next generation of scientists and to bringing more women into management positions. The "Sign Up!” programme is part of this comprehensive funding effort. It consists of three seminar modules that, in addition to personal competence training, also offer information on scientific career planning. The discussion with top scientists from the MPG intends to give participants an insight into the opportunities and challenges of their professional future. Next year, the programme will take place for the fifth time.
