Ankit Gupta wins the Materials 2018 Travel Award
Ankit Gupta, doctoral student in the group “Computational Phase Studies” in the department “Computational Materials Design”, won one of two 2018 Travel Awards sponsored by the journal “Materials” for his paper on “First-principles investigation of thermodynamics and precipitation kinetics in Al-Sc alloys”. These alloys possess excellent mechanical properties and are hence promising candidates for light-weight design. The award of 800 Swiss Franc is supposed to cover the travel expenses and the fee of an international conference, where the awardees have the chance to introduce their research to the materials science community. Gupta presented his work at the “TMS 2018 Annual Meeting and Exhibition”, which took place from March 11 to 15 in Phoenix, USA.
