Two awards for MPIE scientist Stoichko Antonov

Antonov wins Postdoctoral Student Award and Young Leader International Scholar Award

May 21, 2021

In 2020 Stoichko Antonov, an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung (MPIE), was awarded with the Postdoctoral Student award, handed out by the “Microscopy Society of America” for his paper entitled “Atom Probe Tomographic Investigation of the Solute Segregation to Crystal Defects in γ-phase Co-35Ni-20Cr-10Mo Superalloy”.

As a researcher at the Department Microstructure Physics and Alloy Design at MPIE his research mainly focuses on solving energy sustainability and manufacturing challenges in the air transportation industry by leveraging knowledge on the physical metallurgy of aerospace materials (superalloys, steels, and titanium alloys).

Moreover, Antonov was awarded this year with the TSM Young Leader International Scholar Award. He will present his work at the 2022 JIM Spring annual meeting. The Young Leader International Scholar Award is giving promising young researchers the opportunity to participate in the JIM Annual Spring Meeting or EUROMAT meetings where they will present a paper and tour nearby universities, research labs, or industrial facilities.

The TMS Foundation seeks to strengthen and develop young professionals to meet the needs of the minerals, metals and material community, preparing talented individuals for their future leadership roles.
