PhD Scholarship for Leonie Gomell

Leonie Gomell, PhD student in the department "Microstructure Physics and Alloy Design" at the Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung (MPIE), receives the PhD scholarship of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. The fellowship honours Leonie Gomell's excellent scientific achievements and her social commitment besides research. At the MPIE, Gomell is one of the representatives of the PhD students and acts in their interest.

Since May 2019, Leonie Gomell has been part of the MPIE doctoral program IMPRS-SurMat, which supports talented Master's graduates in their doctoral studies at the MPIE or at partner universities. She is a member of the group "Atom Probe Tomography". Her work focuses on the development of non-toxic and cost-effective thermoelectric materials based on interface manipulation in Heusler phases.

The German Academic Scholarship Foundation is the largest institution for the promotion of gifted students in Germany. The institution supports the education of young people who, on account of their exceptional academic personalities, can be expected to make an outstanding contribution to society as a whole.
