Thomas Gänsler, PhD student in the group "Nanoanalytics and Interfaces", won the second prize in the category “Electron Microscopy – Physical Sciences” in the image competition of the Royal Microscopical Society. Gänsler presented his research results on catalysts in a lecture during the Microscience Microscopy Congress 2019 (mmc2019) and took part at the competition with his image titled "A Blooming New World". The image taken with a scanning electron microscope shows different morphologies of a nanostructured catalyst material consisting of niobium oxide hydroxides doped with titanium.
