Habilitation of Dr. Steffen Brinckmann

Dr. Steffen Brinckmann, head of the group “Nanotribology“ in the department “Structure and Nano-/Micromechanics of Materials” at the MPIE, has successfully completed his habilitation at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. The title of his thesis is “Exploration of Crack Propagation in Metals by Length-Scale Dependent Simulations”, where he analyses the failure of metals on different length scales. He completed his habilitation last Monday, April 29, with the lecture “Dislocations and Dislocation Dynamics” at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The newly appointed lecturer will hold seminars on fracture mechanics of materials.
