PD Dr. Franz Roters elected to the executive board of the DGM

PD Dr. Franz Roters, head of the group "Theory and Simulation" in the department "Microstructure Physics and Alloy Design", was elected to the executive board of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Materialkunde e.V. (German Society for Material Science - DGM). For the term of 2019 to 2020 he will be the speaker of the Award Committee II. The Award Committee II prepares the decisions of the board for the selection of the winners of the three DGM awards: Masing-Gedächtnispreis, Georg-Sachs-Preis and DGM-Nachwuchspreis.

Roters studied physics at the TU Braunschweig and graduated with summa cum laude at the RWTH Aachen University in 1999. In 2011, he completed his habilitation at the RWTH and has been working since then as a private lecturer at the university. Roters has been group leader at the Max-Planck Institut für Eisenforschung since 2000. His main research area is constitutive modeling based on crystal plasticity.

The DGM is Europe's largest technical-scientific association in the field of materials science and engineering. It represents the interests of its members from science and industry and promotes the further systematic development of the field.
