Guided tour through the institute in the frame of the workshop “Introduction into the material engineering of steel”

December 12, 2011

Within the context of a workshop by the Steel Academy, the Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung opened its doors for a guided tour. Roundabout 40 non-technicians were able to experience the world of modern material science. They were shown how modern analysis methods, such as the 3D-atom probe, help to understand the structure of steels. The ultrahigh vacuum cluster which is used to examine surfaces was also part of the exhibition. Furthermore, scientists showed the visitors how modern material design works with computers.

Tours similar to this one are regularly offered here at the MPIE. Guided tours for students and pupils are also organised by the Research Coordination Team. If you are interested in getting to know the institute and its members, feel free to send an e-mail to: rco@mpie.de
