Prof. Michael Finnis, Imperial College London, receives Humboldt Research Award and stays at MPIE and ICAMS

Prof. Michael Finnis from the Imperial College London receives the Humboldt Research Award in recognition of his entire achievements and significant impact on materials theory and simulation.

The award was granted following a nomination of Prof. Jörg Neugebauer, MPIE and Prof. Ralf Drautz, Interdisciplinary Centre for Advanced Materials Simulation (ICAMS, Bochum) for establishing joint long-term research projects in the area of electronic structure theory, atomistic modelling and scale-bridging simulation. The award is valued at 60,000 EUR.

Award winners are invited to spend a period of up to one year cooperating on a long-term research project with specialist colleagues at a research institution in Germany. The Humboldt Foundation grants up to 100 Humboldt Research Awards annually.
