At the 47th Symposium on Theoretical Chemistry, which took place from the 21st to the 25th August in Sursee / Zurich (Switzerland), Udo Benedikt, a PhD student in the research group ‘Atomistic Modelling’ in the department of ‘Interface Chemistry and Surface Engineering’, won the second best poster prize.

The symposium takes place in Germany, Switzerland or Austria every year. This year around 200 scientists from the field of theoretical chemistry visited the symposium with the topic ‘Designing molecular functionality: Challenges for theoretical approaches’ featuring 27 invited lectures (W. Thiel (Max Planck Institute in Mühlheim), M. Parrinello (Lugano) and W. F. van Gunsteren (Zurich) amongst others), 11 contributed lectures and over 140 posters.
