Ali Zendegani awarded with the "Larry Kaufman Scholarship"
Ali Zendegani, PhD student in the group "Computational Phase Studies", has been awarded the "Larry Kaufman Scholarship" to present his research titled "First-principles study of thermodynamic properties of the Q phase in Al-Cu-Mg-Si" at the CALPHAD XLIV conference.

He has performed a combined first-principles, phonon and compound energy formalism approach on the Q phase to investigate its temperature dependent site occupancies, Gibbs energy of formation and heat capacity.
The conference took place from May 31 to June 5, 2015 in Loano, Italy. The aim of the conference is to bring together scientists and students with an interest in thermodynamics of materials.
