Local chemical composition and fracture properties of metal/ceramic interfaces
This project focused on the interface between dielectric materials and different metals.
We want to characterize these interfaces regarding their chemical composition and mechanical behaviour. 4 point-bending tests and in situ bending tests in the TEM are planned to investigate the mechanical properties of the interface. Chemical characterization will be done by TEM-EELS and -EDX measurements. The goal is to understand and design the strength between dielectric/metal interfaces.
This project is performed in collaboration with KAI and Infineon (Villach) and the Erich Schmid Institute of Materials Science of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (Leoben).
