Director of the Japanese International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research visits material scientists in Düsseldorf

Prof. Petros Sofronis, director of the Japanese Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (I2CNER), will visit the Max-Planck Institut für Eisenforschung on October 6th.

The aim of his visit is to present the I2CNER, which is the sixth and newest member of the World Premier International Research Center Initiative launched in 2007 by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.  I2CNER was established in 2010 at Kyushu University of Japan in collaboration with the University of Illinois.  It’s target is to develop the science required for the removal of the barriers to a hydrogen-based economy and enable the technological breakthroughs required for efficient CO2-capture and sequestration in both the earth and sub-seabed or its conversion to a useful product.
