Cooperation strengthened for a better understanding of materials

The University of California, Berkeley (USA) and the Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung (MPIE), Düsseldorf (Germany), signed a memorandum of understanding to further strengthen their research cooperation. The cooperation includes joint research projects as well as the exchange of researchers and the joint organization of workshops and short termed mutual visits.

The cooperation is part of a trilateral research initiative between the MPIE, the University of California, Berkeley and POSTECH, an Korean elite university. The three cooperation partners will especially focus on in situ transmission electron microscopy measurements to get a better understanding of phase transformations, the measurement of local elongation and the proceeding of failure.
